The Basics of Writing Sales Pages That Convert Leads

As with any business that has adopted the use of websites, having a sales page is one of the best steps you can take to improve your leads conversion. That said, there is a drastic difference between effective and weak sales pages.

Take care not to leave your sales page unattended. Done right, a sales page can be one of the most effective tools in your arsenal, helping your business prosper online. Don’t worry though, all it takes is a little attention to detail and some planning.

Steps to Writing an Effective Sales Page

The trick to creating, or editing, a sales page effectively is to approach the task step by step. This way, you’re making sure that each phase is done right and any mistakes are minimized. This maximizes the time and effort you put into this project.

Getting to Know Your Audience

The first step in this whole thing would be to understand this– who are you selling your product to? Rather, think of it as understanding who your target audience is. If you haven’t done a marketing analysis yet, this is the best time for it.

Take surveys, conduct Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), and actively talk to the people you perceive to be your potential customers. This is the best way to get an accurate read of who you need to create your page for.

Take note that it will be very difficult for you to move forward from here if you don’t do this right. That said, do as much as you can in analyzing your target audience.

Identify What Makes Your Product Valuable

What makes this product or service worthwhile? This is something you’ll have to be able to communicate to your audience. Now, if you yourself aren’t aware of what makes this product valuable, your business is going to have a hard time converting leads.

Think of this as something similar to an elevator pitch, where you’re going to have to defend your proposition. What would you have to say then? Treat this exercise as a similar situation only this time, you’re convincing your potential customers.

Price Accordingly

Now that you’ve determined who you’re selling your product to and what the value is, it’s time to price your product. At this point, it would help if your earlier marketing analysis was able to determine the buying power of your target audience.

With all this in mind, create a pricing plan for your products. You can test if these are appropriate to your product or service by pre-testing this first among a small control group.

Design Creatively

Now, we have the enjoyable step as this would allow you to get creative with your output. Something to keep in mind though is that the design should not take the attention away from the information you’re trying to push. Rather, it should be able to support.

Try to make it something that’s easy to remember as well. This is why we see a lot of big-name businesses incorporating pop-culture references, that way the ease of recall is assured.
