Hey, today we’re talking about Facebook page optimization and how to turn views into hot leads.

So what’s up buttercup?

It’s Alexandria from Alexandria Taylor Cox live. I’m a digital marketing strategist who helps female coaches and course creator piece together the tech and strategy they need to stand out online and create a profitable business.

Today we are talking about how to optimize your Facebook profile to turn page views into hot leads for free without feeling salesy, spammy, or pushy. So let’s dive in.

But right before that, I do want you to know I create a guide with everything I’m going to go over today for you to use the quick and handy checklist for when you makeover your own Facebook profile.I put a link in the description of this video so you can grab it while you follow along.

So we’re talking about Facebook page optimization and you’re probably wondering why the heck should I do this?

I was doing all the right things, probably like you, I was going into groups adding value, I was networking, I was getting all the new friend request and follows. I mean my page went from a hundred friends to 1200 in less than a month, but all those people were just sitting on Facebook with no real way to dive further into my business. Or even to remember that I can help them.

Then I optimize my Facebook profile and my list started growing seemingly out of nowhere. I started getting DMs from people asking about my pricing or how they can fill out an application to work with me. So the difference you’ll see there is amazing and more importantly it happened to me without me spamming Facebook groups, sliding into people’s DMs or begging for sales.

And here’s where I have to give a tiny disclaimer. The Facebook Community guidelines do not want you using your profile for straight business. And I have seen profiles get shut down for doing that. But here’s the key difference I’ve noticed, when you talk about your business as part of your life and in a manner that isn’t spammy to your friends list then they don’t bother you.

You’re talking about a part of your life and inviting people into that world which is what social media is all about. But when you change your Facebook profile name to Jenny’s plant shop and every post is about “buy a plant”, “buy a plant” then you’re kind of being a jerk. So essentially don’t be a jerk and you’ll be fine.

Today, I’m doing an overview of all the parts to optimize your profile, and then I’ll do additional individual walkthroughs over the next couple of days. That way if you struggling with any one part you’ll be able to get that part done.

First, update your cover image. Use a great image of you, so that way you can tell people what you do, who you help, and give them a call to action.

Your profile picture should show off your best self & be on-brand. It shouldn’t be an image of your kids on a toilet or you smoking a cigar, unless you sell cigars of course. It should show your face and it does not have to be professional, which is what some people get caught up in. It does not have to be a professional photo.

I’ve seen some great profile pictures of a woman holding her newborn child. And it was a great, actually a black and white photo, and the reason why it’s so great for her and on-brand for her is because she was a mompreneur. And she was a happy and proud mompreneur, so them seeing her with her kids show them that like okay she’s building a business with her, while still being a mom and for so many people in her ideal audience that was inspiring and that helped them relate to her.

Edit your bio. Your intro you have 101 characters to tell everyone visiting what you do. Use them wisely. Your work history, claim your title in your business and your business confidently. If you are the founder and operator or founder and CEO say it. Don’t be the lead coach at, when you are the owner and the founder. Step into that role cause it is yours.

Also here’s a great place to link to your Facebook page, which will automatically happen if you claim the Facebook page as you being an admin I believe. But it will also create a link to it when you created your work history and you selected your page as the place where you work at.

Link to your Facebook group so if you have a Facebook group that you are trying to grow linking to it here is key. As people will see it once they go on to your page. Link to your website and lead to the funnel that you’re focusing on right now. So if you have a lead generation funnel that you want to focus on link that, or self-liquidating offer, or even a high-ticket item, or an application funnel. If that’s what you’re focusing on right now, get a link to it.

Pick one feature image. When you pick one it becomes huge and attracts the eye the photo should mirror your cover image with the same call to action, and look the same way too. You can do a different call to action but on average having one call to action has a higher conversion rate and adding a second usually cuts that conversion rate in half.

Curate your most recent post. So your most recent post is a prime spot for anyone coming on. It actually is one of the biggest indicators of if someone is going to add you as a friend or not because ultimately what you stay there can you either be like a picture of a cat and therefore they don’t have any real reason to add you. Unless they’re like super in love with cats. Or can be something about your business or something about how you helped someone and or show your knowledge and expertise.

So curate your most recent post and it should be something that causes engagement with your ideal customer and makes them want to react. So it can be educational and teach them something and prove that you’re an authority in your Niche. It can be relatable and just make them say yeah me too, that happens to me. Or it can be something provocative so you just start some ish and ruffle some feathers.

And these last two tie into each other but are super important. You want to make sure your profile is public because honestly, entrepreneurs are leaders and leaders are public figures. Some of you are going to want to fight me on that. But if your profile is still private now, stop it, just stop it.

Because think about all the leaders in your life that you picked apart in some way personally. And how did you have to find that person’s information? Was it through the Grapevine? Was it through doing a search on Facebook and finding them? How did you find it?

Think about all the political leaders and how we dig through their past to be able to make a decision on if you want to vote for them for what they’re saying they stand for today. Your business and your profile page are what you’re saying you stand for today. Your profile page is showing them that it is the truth and being that transparency. So either they’re going to find it by hunting and searching and looking for it or you’re going to give them a curated discovery of here’s what I really want you to know. And especially if you make it easy for them they’re going to buy in more than if they had to go search for it and if they find out something that they didn’t want to find out by searching for it.

Also, allow people to follow you. So some people miss just clicking this button and it may seem unimportant but once you get to 5000 friends it becomes hugely important. Because the only way, they can continue to follow your content without becoming one of your friends is to hit the follow button. And it’s also important for people that are not ready for you to see their page. So if they still are private, and they click that they want to be your friend then they have to open themselves up to being publicly available to you. Maybe they don’t want that but maybe they do you want to follow your content. So they can follow you and stay private on their end but then also be able to get all the updates for your notifications on your post.

So I found that when I turned that on, I started getting a ton of followers. Note, once you make them a friend, they are no longer a follower so it’s also like a holding queue. So people that asked to be your friend will automatically follow you so therefore like if you don’t end up adding a friend or if you don’t end up getting to approve the friend as fast as you would like then they at least can still see your content as it comes up.

We just went over a ton just to recap in order to turn your page views into hot leads for free without feeling salesy, spammy, or pushy, you have to optimize your Facebook page. Which means you should update your cover image, show your best self, edit your bio, pick one featured image, curate your most recent post, make your profile public, and allow people to follow you.
